Optus outsources more jobs

Optus will outsource over 100 more jobs as part of its continuing restructure.?It is likely more will follow.

Optus has confirmed reports that it is outsourcing more jobs, many of them offshore. They will go to Accenture, Indian company Tech Mahindra, and SingTel subsidiary NCS, based in Singapore.

?We have identified around 130 roles that are affected by the expansion of our offshoring capabilities. We are working with employees affected by these changes, and where possible we are exploring redeployment opportunities,? the company said in a statement.

The moved was flagged in February, when Optus head of corporate and regulatory affairs David Epstein said the company would work towards ?removal of duplication and the streamlining of technology to improve efficiency of internal IT systems and networks.?

Optus laid off 900 people in 2012, and more cuts are expected as the company continues its restructuring program. The past year the reorganisation of Optus Business, an increased focus on Optus branded retail, and stringent cost cutting. Its annual results were ?stable?.
