FLAGSTAFF -- After nearly 18 months away from a basketball practice, it figured that Channing Frye would need to ease himself back into the fold.That will be true when the Suns' practice scrimmage time starts Tuesday evening but Frye opened camp Tuesday morning like every other player in most ways and better than other players in another. Frye went through the entire first camp session, a non-contact practice at Northern Arizona. After the practice was over, Suns shooters took 200 3-pointers in 20-shot blocks around the arc at NAU's Rolle Activity Center. Frye made 152, a total only topped by guard Shannon Brown's 153.
Channing Frye (heart) said that he's targeting a return in December.
Impacts: "I don?t want to go out there looking like a bum," Frye said. "I want to go out there cooking." It's not going to be easy for Frye to come back after missing an entire season due to an enlarged heart. Although, he's already back at practice and is on the comeback trail, so this does seem like a realistic expectation. He's a sharpshooting stretch four, which means he could emerge as a hot pickup in standard leagues upon his return.

Impacts: He made 152 of 200 3-pointers in practice, so he's shaken off the rust fairly quickly in the shooting department. Frye has a very good chance to get back in the rotation as a stretch four, especially with the team's lack of depth. Head coach Jeff Hornacek said that he wants his team to have 50 of its offense installed this week in Flagstaff, so Frye will have some catching up to do. We'll be monitoring his progress throughout camp.
