Mayor Rob Ford is giving Doug Holyday a goodbye gift.

Ford will present his departing deputy mayor with a key to the City of Toronto on Tuesday, the mayor?s office confirmed Monday. Holyday is heading to Queen?s Park after winning a byelection in Etobicoke-Lakeshore earlier this month.

During the byelection, the mayor campaigned heavily in Etobicoke for Holyday to win the seat for the Progressive Conservatives.

Ford?s spokesman, Sunny Petrujkic, said the mayor wants to give the key to the new Toronto MPP because ?Doug Holyday is a fantastic guy.?

?He?s been a terrific deputy mayor, an outstanding voting record ? he?s been consistent in voting for the taxpayers of the city,? Petrujkic said. ?He deserves more than a key to the city.?

It?s the third time Ford has doled out a key to the city since taking office. The mayor has given the honour to McDonald?s Canada founder George Cohon and legendary Canadian boxer George Chuvalo.
